Collect your 100-sided die, your magician’s cap, your appetite, and steel your nerves, a local Stumptown chef is rolling the dice on a new Dungeons & Dragons-themed dinner event.
Everyone has a dream of what they want to accomplish before they die. Some want to climb Mount Everest. Some just want to visit Paris or Hawaii. Still, others have stranger dreams – like visiting every Cracker Barrel location in the world.
Portland is filled with a variety of weird and wonderful single-location restaurants, however we’re not exempt from chains, either. Cracker Barrel, the somewhat controversial Southern-themed restaurant and store, is opening another location in the Portland area next year, and it’s attracting their particular brand of clientele to come visit the wonders of Stumptown.

Portlanders take running very seriously. Just wander the streets of any of Portland’s five (yes, five) quadrants, and you’ll come across runners everywhere. So, when Energy Events cancelled its Vancouver USA Marathon, you can bet Portlanders won’t take such action lying down.
Portland has always been a haven for weird people and weird events whether it’s the infamous Portland postman who pooped on a patio a few years ago, the zombie-filled car that crashed on a freeway, or the extremely popular Portland Saturday Market which attracts crowds of oddities.
Regardless, Stumptown’s an odd burg, and here we’ll talk a bit about why it’s so weird and also where the heck the whole “Keep Portland Weird” phenomenon started in the first place.
