Portland bridges falling down.

Portland’s not a good city for people with a fear of bridges; a total of eight crisscross the downtown area. With the devastating earthquake and aftershocks in Japan, officials have started taking another look at the state of our fine city’s bridges, and the results are not good.

Oregon’s discovering it isn’t easy being green.

Oregon state tries to embrace energy-saving, green-energy alternatives in almost everything it does. From new buildings that recycle human poop to offering individuals discounts for energy-efficient cars and appliances.

Now, with projected costs for the subsidies to reach $290 million this year, the legislature’s looking at the long, hard road in front of it – do they cut the subsidies that are hurting the state budget at a time when other areas need help, or do they continue subsidizing this up-and-coming industry in hopes that the green industry brings much-needed jobs to our beleaguered state?

Hipster criminals just can’t catch a break.

Tell us if you think this sounds like a good idea: go to a BMW dealership, steal a loaner car, then head to a Walmart in Chehalis to shoplift as much as your freshly-showered hands can carry. Oh, did we forget to mention that you got arrested and released a few days ago for breaking into a house, taking a shower and then calling the 911 on the homeowner because her doggies scared you?

The Portland Saturday Market – come get you some crazy!

Every city has its sights and landmarks that visitors truly must see. New York City has the Statue of Liberty and politico-filled prostitution rings, Los Angeles has Disneyland and impenetrable smog as far as the eye can see – Portland has the Portland Saturday Market.
