When a city drops ranks on a national list – Best Beer Cities in the U.S., Best Food Cities in America – it’s usually a sign for the city’s citizens and leadership to band together and make a plan for improvement. When we saw Portland drop to third most popular city to move to in the results of the Summer Movers Study, we threw a freakin’ party!
Only Portlanders would be this happy to drop in popularity…

When we first learned that George Takei will be serving as the narrator for the Oregon Symphony’s 2017-18 season opening night performance of Aaron Copland’s orchestral tribute to Abraham Lincoln, we were more than a little confused.
Upon further investigation, we’re quite simply blown away. “Oh… myyyy…” indeed!

Portland loves its sweets. From decadent cupcakes from Cupcake Jones in the Pearl District to the infamous (and vegan) Cock-n-Balls doughnut from Voodoo Doughnuts. Pastries not your thing? Pick up some Bone Marrow and Smoke Cherries ice cream from Salt and Straw. Portland will candy-coat your sweet tooth.
So, imagine our excitement when Eater, Portland’s food blog, broke the news that the famous baker Christina Tosi will be bringing her mouth-watering Milk Bar treats to Portland!

Amazon announced Thursday, September 7, 2017 that they intend to build a second headquarters outside of Seattle to the tune of $5 billion and adding up to 50,000 new jobs.
Like a hot new debutante on ABC’s The Bachelorette, Amazon laid out some ground rules and told all prospective cities to duke it out for her honor.
And, yes, Portland is a suitor trying to steal Amazon’s heart.

The smoke hasn’t cleared and the Eagle Creek fire rages on, but as more details come out about the 15-year-old Vancouver boy suspected to have started the Eagle Creek Fire by throwing smoke bombs, we wonder – what is an appropriate punishment for destruction of this scale?
